Football
The boys and girls of Derrywash N.S. participate in the Cumann na mBunscol Gaelic, Mini Seven and League competitions as well as the Five-a-Side Soccer competitions annually.
Congratulations to the Derrywash Girls Mini-Sevens who made it to the final in Breaffy on Tuesday the 9th of October, and put up a great fight against Ballyvary. Well done girls!
Swimming
All children from first to sixth class take swimming lessons, normally a course of eight weeks, in Castlebar Swimming Pool, during the third term of school.
Cross Country
The boys and girls from third to sixth class participate in the primary school cross country competitions held in the first school term each year. There are three stages to the competition, West Mayo, Mayo and Connaught Final.
Tag Rugby
The pupils from third to sixth class take part in a tag rugby competition in the final school term every year. They have a few weeks training before the competition takes place at the rugby pitch, only walking distance from our school.
Table Tennis
We have a full size table tennis table in the school and we really enjoying learning the rules and skills associated with table tennis. We will be taking part in the Mayo Primary Schools Competition this year in Breaffy Sports Arena.
